Parish of Southampton City Centre

Join us for Worship

congregation at St Michael's

We are pleased to announce that Revd Dr David Deboys, Associate Vicar of Tewkesbury and Worship Officer in Gloucester Diocese, has accepted the invitation to become Team Vicar, within this Parish, subject to all necessary procedures. We are hoping that David will be joining us soon after Easter.

For over a thousand years Christians in Southampton have worshiped in our churches at the special moments in their lives and week by week. You are very welcome to join them, at St Mary's and St Michael's churches in Southampton.

Our City Centre Parish covers the heart of Southampton. Within it are to be found the city’s civic, entertainment, legal, tourist and commercial centres, as well as much of the port and some significant educational and cultural establishments. We have one of the most ethnically diverse and culturally rich parts of the country, not typical either of Southampton itself or the diocese of Winchester.

This means that our mission will always be varied as we seek to be creative in the ways in which we relate the Christian faith. It also means that our congregations are very cosmopolitan and diverse in terms of backgrounds and experience. We have two main mission bases within our parish: St Mary’s church in Southampton, which is the oldest site of Christian worship and St Michael’s church in Southampton which is the oldest surviving church building in the city.
